This webcomic turned graphic novel was fun and at times dark, but overall engaging and quick to get through. The main character Nimona has a strong personality and doesn't like being told what to do, and I liked the slow plot reveal of her trauma surrounding her powers and her trust issues as a result of it. Ballister was a compelling character too because he ultimately wanted to do good for the kingdom and the people being mislead by the Institution, but because everyone labeled him a villain he decided to live up to that name and act as a villain would. Ambrosius was the weakest of the main cast. There were a few funny moments and lighthearted scenes throughout but ultimately the story ended with a serious and bittersweet resolution, which I honestly didn't expect and admire more than a true happy ending for the author's decision to be more realistic and have lasting effects from the climatic fight.
