Bridge of Clay
by Markus Zusak
A masterpiece! Like some artists Zusak tells his stories as much in the spaces between the words as the words themselves, giving the reader just enough for them to see it unfolding within themselves. The Dunbar boys seemed to love be in my heart and head having escaped the page entirely. Any writer who can do that is some kind of genius. I’ve long been a Zusak fan, but this blew me away more than I was prepared for. Recovery will take some time!
