The Body in Question by Jill Ciment

4.0

Okay, I did NOT expect to love this book. Especially in the first part of the book when the main characters are referred to as their juror numbers. It dehumanizes them in a way that I’m not sure was necessary. But I do like the shift to then calling them their names in the second half, it adds extra weight to their situations and decisions.

I liked that it wasn’t solely about the case, but about life and death in a completely unrelated way that made the murder have extra heaviness, in a good way.
