It feels a bit hollow at times, with some characters and scenes. I do like that the time traveler is always in a philosophical mindset regarding humanity and the future. Some of his conclusions without much evidence is interesting and I do understand that was the point of the story but it did leave me confused. Like immediately stating the elio had to have been the rich people and the morlocks had to be the labours because they started losing access to the sky. I can make sense of it but it was the immediate conclusion that left me a bit confused.
Personally seeing what was almost the end of earth wasn't as frightening or scary as how everyone else made it seem. Not that I was disappointed, I was actually very interested as this was what I had heard different experts in the field discussed a lot. How in the end we might just become crabs and almost a lot of things evolve to become crabs. Or watching the sun become bigger and bigget to the point that it will eat the earth.
But I do like it, especially the ending where it hits you why this isnot in the perspective of the time traveler, he left for evidence and never returned. That was definitely unsettling as we will never know and our imagination can easily come up with terrible scenarios for him.
It was a good read, certain parts definitely do show that it was written in a different era.
