Justice League, Volume 7: Darkseid War, Part 1 by Geoff Johns

3.0

So my year-long adventure reading the new 52 is coming to an end. I see the signs for Rebirth in this as it seems as if all the resets of the multiverse were part of some overarching cosmic battle … ok, sure - what do I know.

The plot of this book is a little confusing in terms of the particulars so I ignored them. Basically, Darkseid is planning to invade and there is another baddy who is going to fight him and our poor JL gets caught in the middle. There may have been more details which I missed but honestly I couldn't explain them despite just having finished the comic. Superman also turns black like a film negative - remember those? No? Ah well - he looks weird and doesn't get enough screen time for my liking.

Wonder woman comes across like a bad-ass leader which was cool. However, the coolest part was a panel of Batman sitting on the Wikipedia chair - trust me it was epic. The art is generally fantastic in this comic and saved the book for me. I was a little underwhelmed by the plot but I had a lot of fun looking at all the pretty pictures.
