Wounded Hearts is by two new-to-me authors. I liked the blurb and the cover so I thought I would try it out. It started out ok; A little cheesy in places, perhaps, but in line for a solid 3 stars.

However, the back and forth wishy-washy feelings got to me. Zane couldn’t make up his mind if he was staying or leaving and they both assumed, presumed, and let their tempers flare at the littlest of things. And then instead of talking, they had sex. Ninety percent of their relationship was based on sex. Not to mention the short, short time frame that their feelings sprung from. By the third time Zane packed his bags, I was done.

Combined with nitpicky things like Zelda supposedly being 5 and in school but they pack a stroller for her? She also sometimes talked like she was three plus they treated her like a toddler at times; Cyrus carried big, beefy, Zane around like he was a little girl; and they kept calling Cyrus old, though from my figuring he couldn’t have been more than 50 (probably more like 40) and they said he was only 10 years older than Zane. It got annoying.

I did like the premise, and as I said, I did enjoy the first part well enough. It just got to be too much in the end. If you like hot tempers, lots of cowboy talk, lots of sex, and a cute kid who visits, you might like this book.
