ok. get this: it’s mandatory in the portuguese educational system to read at least one of josé saramago’s books and my class had to do a project on this one so i bought it (also got a 18/20 on that project thank u saramago) and i did not expect to like it AT ALL — truth is: i kinda did. i still have it 3 stars because, even though i absolutely admire his way of thinking, i can’t stand his writing style and the whole historical romance? it’s not really my cup of tea :( i still want to read another book by him just to see if it wasn’t this book that didn’t work for me or not tho but i’d recommend if u want different!
