I feel like coming from reading the Deep and Dark Blue, which I gave 5 stars to, this was a bit different, and not what I was expecting. This was different. It was sad, and tense, and about a journey about this kid that was involved in a school shooting. It was cute and sweet seeing him be able to make friends that suported him, and the complicated relationship with his mother after the incident... Having survived a school shooting must be (sadly) a reality for many people in the U.S., so I think it's interesting to have made a comic about a person that went through that. Niki Smith does a masterful portrayal of anxiety and PTSD.
