Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

5.0

Difficult for me to get through, but more readable than some books. I really enjoyed it (the writing rather than the situations) and the ideas behind what it really means to be invisible and how that happens. It was hard to get through some parts, and he tended to ramble on a lot, but last page tells us that was partly the point as well as helping the reader see their own invisibility and what they are looking through. It's a very powerful thing to tell and I loved hearing it. I think it really changed the way I look at others. I don't want to make them invisible by seeing them as things. I want to make the world a little better. And that is the brilliance of this book. It should definitely be given a read by everyone.
