I would’ve given the book a 4/5, but the pop culture references kept taking me out of the fantasy mindset. That, and it really felt the author was trying too hard to make the main character “cool”. It was actually pretty cringe.
I loved the slow burn romance in the book though! And Peanut. He really brought a lot of comic relief to some otherwise awkward/uncomfortable/cringe moments. It was a welcomed reprieve. If you’re not too cringe averse, it’s a pretty cute book.
