Deadly Class Volume 1: Reagan Youth by Rick Remender

3.0

Completely not like the blurb on GR. A lot of things get in the way of the story - takes a while to get going, a few clichèd characters, the Asian girl is whitewashed IMO (but she's got lots of tattoos, man...), an attempt at social commentary, too much "telling" and not enough "showing". Some really nice art and colors though. Very violent. (Someone at the GN discussion group mentioned a "Harry Potter" vibe with the secret school thing but then we never spend any time there to see how the school truly operates)

Given the character introduced at the end of the volume I am interested in checking out Vol 2 to see where it goes.
