Italian Shoes by Henning Mankell

I enjoyed the writing style of the book. The story started off strong but then started getting out of hand. The plot was too unbelievable. And the characters were so blunt and eccentric that I didn’t buy into them anymore than I did the storyline. I was okay with Harriet’s appearance and her wanting to see the forest pond - even though the whole thing was far fetched. And I saw Louise coming. But it was her character and the dynamic between the three of them that I didn’t buy. It ruined it for me. Also while Fredrik was an undisputed jerk I still found his actions towards Agnes at the end to be not in line with his character. Overall I’m glad I read it and while I wouldn’t recommend the book to anyone I wouldn’t absolutely discourage reading it as well.
