I enjoyed the story and the narrators were delightful. And. SO MANY PLOT HOLES. like the political structure. How killick got involved in everything. The use of magic. The timeline made no sense. Kay and Val are somehow disrupting a plot and deeply in love within...a week? Two weeks? This book would have really benefitted from expanding the timeline. Also not sure why two princes are investigating a murder plot, and not the actual people who work in intelligence??
And yet. The relationship between Kay and Val was ADORABLE. I loved the exploration of magic and gender. Val learning to express himself was so sweet. It was engaging and took me out of the world and that's really, really what I need right now.
