albemarleee 's review for:
Red, White & Royal Blue
by Casey McQuiston
first things first: WE NEED SUCH BOOKS!
this book is not an incredibly deep slow-burning realistic romance, no, it is the equivalent to the 10 million straight-romance novels out there. it IS cheesy and has a good amount of smut, but also great emotion and rather complex characters and amazing heart-warming side-characters and a good plot. I have never read anything like this before, apart maybe from fanfiction, but we need joyful and hopeful queer romance novels and I‘m glad I got the opportunity to read this book and I would definitely read it again!! It’s just fun and feels like a modern fairytale. Can’t wait for the film, i just hope they will portray all the different emotions and (mental)problems and characters right and just like in the book!!
little edit:
i LOVED their emails, the amount of times I chuckled or choked on my own saliva, because of these…
edit: honestly, the film kinda disappoints in comparison to just this review. it’s not bad, i LOVE how Nick and Taylor portrayed Alex and Henry, but it’s not as deep and just very yk romance movie like which it is, so yeah, don’t mind me.
