This book just kind of dragged on for me. There was a lot of talk, and a lot of pages, but not a lot of actual things happening.
It has been six months since Lia became a 'skinner,' or, as she and her friends like to call themselves, 'Mechs'. Lia decided to finally embrace what she is and give up on her human life. However, the rest of the world is not ready to accept the mechs, and religious fantatics are growing in strength as the government legislature must fully decide whether or not the replicated people are actually people.
The debate becomes more heated when there is an attack on a corporation owned town, and Lia's face is captured on video declaring war against the humans. More and more people and fearing and hating the mechs, and are trying to take away all of their rights.
It sounded like it could have been a good book, but everything gets a bit tedious when you hear it over and over again. For instance, Lia is betrayed by people who she once cared about. Ok, I saw it coming, and I get that she is upset, but it keeps talking about it. Also, the whole sexual tension thing with Jude and Lia, and her constantly saying that all of the others are mindless followers, but no, she isn't following, she just happens to want to do what he's telling her, it gets really old.
Overall, it was just kind of meh.
