Tales from Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
4.0

Each story individually was good, but some of the stories lacked a final punch or satisfying conclusion. I love short stories that finish tensely (like Ling Ma's "Bliss Montage" or Thomas Ligotti's "Songs of a Dead Dreamer". Some of these stories (namely "Songs of the Earth" and "On the High Marsh" were incredibly light and quick, hopping along and keeping the reader's curiosity high in true Le Guin fashion. Others, (like "Dragonfly") were denser, and had, I believe, less satisfying conclusions.

But, regardless of this book's individual stories' merits, it was still an eminently interesting and enjoyable read. I like the change of form from novel to short story collection, and Le Guin consistently surprises me with the changes to fantasy form she debuted in Earthsea.

One more book until I'm done with the series... a bittersweet (almost) end to a fantastical reading journey.
