Beach Read by Emily Henry

Ok, I ended up actually loving this book! While not my usual genre, (although maybe I'm starting to enjoy these more and more), this one was great.

January. The FMC. Her life is in shambles as a struggling writer who just lost everything, (well her dad and her drive to write the romcoms she's been writing). And she found out her dad hadn't been honest with her at his funeral. She is going to clean out his beach house.

Gus. The MMC. They actually have somewhat of a past, and he's in the house next door to her father's. She always considered him a rival in college and when they reacquaint they decide to have a bet.

Along the way, we learn about so much of their past and all the hurts and dramas they have gone through, and it's a lot of heartbreaking stuff! The angst is high in this one and there are definitely tear-jerking moments. The banter between the 2 of them is pretty darn funny too!

5 stars and I might be starting to like a new genre of books here...
