Slaying the Frost King by Candace Robinson

4.0

I was really excited to read Slaying the Frost King and it did not disappoint.

Stuff that I liked:

The characters were great. I think the enemies to lovers with mortals vs. gods/fae is a pretty well explored trope with certain character elements that work and this book had them. Morozko has the arrogance that comes with having a boatload of power and longevity. Eirah have the convictions of a person that knows who she is but in a way that isn't jaded and lacking compassion. Both characters give major Disney Beauty and the Beast vibes. There were also a bunch of side characters that I felt had the right amount of page time. Maybe the wolf and the owl could have had more.

The spice was good. It felt on par with the development of their relationship which was sweet and believable.

Stuff that was a little meh: I felt like the story started to drag in the middle. It started very interesting and then once it got to the external conflict of the book, things started to slow down. And then the ending came very quick. I thought we would see a little more in the epilogue but we didn't.

Overall this was a good read. I would for sure read more from both of these authors. Also I love the cover.
