Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey
2.0

Picked this up because it was on the Canada Reads long list. Are thrillers just not my thing? The pacing was all over the place. I felt like everyone's motives were just insane. Why was Holly so obsessed with becoming part of their family as a grown ass woman? I know she had a wild upbringing but you'd think she was like 14-16 not 22. The plot felt very predictable (or rather, I predicted most of the plot).
I didn't explicitly guess that her step sister was the one who followed them to Toronto, but I did guess it before the explicit reveal because of the cover. As soon as Emily was wearing a yellow jacket I was like, she's the villain. I found that so funny. I thought the cover design was just a vague reference to IT.

Also I know I wanted to read a Canadian book set in Canada by Canadian author but the use of specific locations was just so heavy handed. I know it's set in Vancouver/Toronto, you don't need to slap me in the face about it!
