Antigone
by Sophocles
Antigone only serves to remind us of the unforgiving nature of Greek tragedy, in its finest form. It is the final act of The Theban Plays - and of the Oedipal line - featuring a heroine who is the epitome of honor and belief in one's own role in a larger system, and who, in spite of her fate, manages to break free of the plague that so destroyed her line. A classic, a quick read, and a work definitely worthy of fine analysis.
