Ok so I both love and hate this book. There are so many twists in it at places it's hard to follow. Not only that but the twists fall short. I hope in Sever they are concluded better because if not I'll be very disappointed. Also this whole story was about Rhine getting home, and god don't even get me started on her personality in this one she is so wishy-washy, she can't seem to make decisions which completely contradicts her steely and strong character from the first book. In this book she just seemed to always be depressed and the damsel in distress. Also there were so many unimportant characters in this story. We met lots of new characters and then they just kind of disappear from the story. The twist with Rowan at the end was good and took me for a loop but another thing that bugged is that this whole book was about finding a brother we've never met as a character and then its a one paragraph thing at the very end of the book.

Also Rhine and Gabriel's relationship is so forced and just lacking. I couldn't tell that they actually loved each other. Their relationship just made me feel... for lack of a better word I'll use Erin's...indifferent. Even the kisses and touches are just forced into the story its disappointing. Also when Linden finally comes back into the story like the last 15 pages he just seems indifferent to Rhine now even though he's supposed to love her. I get that she left him but he'd feel something and it's not til she tells him the truth that he finally shows any emotions at all.

Done with the criticism on to what I liked. I love to hate Vaughn he makes the creepiest bad guy I've ever read about. He is so charming and good on the outside but so evil. He is truly evil incarnate. The scary thing is he truly is trying to use his penchant for evil to cure the virus. Also I love the premise behind the story. The story itself is original and unique and I've never read anything like it. I just think it is poorly executed though I will read Sever just to find out what happens. Also I thought the whole carnival of ....sins, flesh....was a great idea. That part was fascinating. I loved those characters especially the Madame and Lilac and Maddie. Also the twist at the end with her brother shocked me. Wait til you find out what has become of him.
