Summit's Edge
by Sara Driscoll
Police Procedural Mystery in which a K-9 handler with the FBI's Human Scent Evidence Team works to rescue plane crash survivors and track down the fleeing hijacker behind the attack.
5/5 stars: This is the ninth entry in Driscoll's FBI K-9 series which is a Police Procedural Mystery that features a K-9 handler with the FBI's Human Scent Evidence Team in Washington DC as she and her teammates travel to Colorado to help with the search and rescue of any survivor's of a hijacked plane crash that's located high in the treacherous Elk Mountains. After finding the survivors, they learn the hijacker survived and has fled into the wilderness with one of the passenger's in pursuit. As the K-9 teams prepare to track both men, she taps into her friends and family connections to get more information on the suspect. Once they set out she, her K-9, her teammates and the other searchers must contend with the mountain’s savage fury, perilous weather and an adversary who will destroy as many lives as possible rather than face justice. With plenty of twists and turns, Driscoll writes a gripping fast-paced investigative tale that will leave you on the edge of your seat until the final reveal. I really like how Driscoll's plot unfolds and the deft way everything weaves together so effortlessly. Additionally, Driscoll's writing and character work is stellar; the characters are well-rounded and complex while remaining incredibly likable. It's great to catch back up with Meg, Hawk, her K-9 partner, Todd her firefighter/paramedic fiance, her sister Cara, a dog trainer, and her investigative reporter partner McCord and Meg's FBI team and their dogs. I also love seeing Meg and Todd get married. Driscoll touches on some sensitive topics; so take care and check the CWs. While you could read this as a stand-alone, you'll gain so much more by reading the series from the beginning; so be sure to pick up book one, [b:Lone Wolf|36142615|Lone Wolf (FBI K-9, #1)|Sara Driscoll|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1503979913l/36142615._SY75_.jpg|48645850].
