The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

4.0

This book is succinctly new adult. It has a slightly YA vibe but does have adult fantasy elements so I think it’s perfectly centered. Schwab is so good at character development. For the first 50% of this book, it felt like I knew the characters personally, they felt so real. My only complaint about this book is that from about 50-75% the plot gets a little hazy and repetitive. The premise is good and I loved the ending, so much so that I shed a few tears. I will say that I was expecting a slightly bigger twist. Without any spoilers, I felt that the “reveal” was a little lacking and was assumed pretty early on. But I don’t think that took away from the overall story. This book is also riddled with quips and quotes that I love! And although this whole book is a little dark, you really feel the author’s more sinister trademarks come out in the last chapter.
