Swallow the Air by Tara June Winch

1.5

I will start by saying that the writing was beautiful, literally poetic, but I could not get past the structure or the story.

We follow May, an indigenous girl whose mother dies, leaving her and her brother with their aunty. Story progresses from there following their response to this trauma.

Good enough premise, but the story jumps around and there is no clear narrative. There is no character development, it feels like a slice of life story mixed with coming of age, but told seemingly completely randomly.

Honestly felt like the author doesn't respect my time.
