The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

4.0

I thought I knew the story since I've heard and read it when I was a kid, but no. I forgot everything and everyone nd this is such a refreshing reminder.
The relationship between Krishna and Panchaali was soo heartwarming. Him calling her 'Krishnaa' is the best thing ever.
But to see that Panchaali loved Karna all the while is very surprising, since I never knew this fact from the stories. I've googled to see if this is actually true nd it is. Nd everytime she hurt him, it was unbearable to read. His life was truly..sad. such cruel destiny.

I truly enjoyed this book until the middle chapters, that is, before the tragedy struck. Because after that moment, Panchali's behaviour and other's opinion of her changes deeply and it is heartbreaking to see someone fall from grace.

But a great ending.
