This was a pretty good children's adventure book. I would consider this more middle grade, but I hear it most referred to as a children's book.
There's a rather extensive vocabulary in this book and it often made me wonder if a kid wouldn't get a little frustrated with not knowing all of these terms. I know a lot of the words I myself didn't learn until high school or beyond.
I kind of found Meg to be annoying. She was whiney throughout the whole book and the ending didn't really redeem her.
The ending was definitely rushed. I honestly didn't even think the particular thing that was inevitably about to happen wouldn't happen until the next book in the series, but alas it didn't and the climax lasted about 2 pages, not exaggerating. It honestly felt really out of place with the rest of the story because I feel like a lot happened at the beginning and then the ending was just so convenient and unsurprising and just... Idk. Honestly just thinking about it as a whole now dropped this book half a point for me. The ending just wasn't the best way to leave this off as.
I'm not really sure if I'll continue the series. We'll see.
