A very depressing historical fiction novel about the Tudor era. Captures how terrifying it would have been to live in England at the end of Henry VIII's reign. The powerlessness, his mood swings. Completely shattered any romantic notions one would have had for that time, or for Henry's platonic relationship with Ann of Cleves, who he proclaimed his sister, but nearly executed.
