Dinosaurs by Lydia Millet

I’m not sure if I’ll write a full review of this, but I’ll just say now that I absolutely adored this spare yet endlessly rich novel. I tried to read it for as long as possible to cherish the experience. Millet has such a gentle touch, I felt so safe losing myself in the pages of this story.

P.S. I would be so shocked if Millet wasn’t at all inspired by Batman/Bruce Wayne when she wrote this. Gil is literally Bruce Wayne without the maniacal, intense focus on ridding the world of crime that the caped crusader has. Instead, Gil offers a radical alternative to the Batman archetype. He is sensitive, thoughtful, lonely, and fears hurting another soul more than anything else in the world. I fell in love with his character almost immediately.
