Never getting over this book! I loved it so much and I want to reread and annotate it immediately! I absolutely loved Lea's characterisation of Mary Shelley, her portrait of Mary Shelley as a woman and as an artist was so thoughtful and well researched. I loved how the novel explored Mary's identity as a woman and as a writer and how these identities are inextricably intertwined. I absolutely love how writing is framed as a deeply cathartic and often frustrating process. A really complex exploration of the deeply wounding effects of generational and familial trauma, Lea captures the resilience of the human spirit when faced with traumatic experiences and navigating and overcoming some of the most devastating life events any woman could endure. This book will stay with me for a long time, highly recommend! :)
