Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret Stohl

Did not finish book.
I will never understand the reason Marvel insist on treating their female characters so poorly; first Joss Whedon practically destroys Natasha Romanov's characterization in Age Of Ultron, reducing her to just another woman defined by her ability to have children, shamelessly throwing herself at a man who does not understand her nor wants to be with her in a romantic way; and then this sorry excuse of a book comes along.

Do not be fooled by the title, this book is not about the Black Window at all, the real protagonist of this story is Ava and she is a "special snowflake" walking around life feeling sorry for herself because actual Natasha (who only appears in a few pages and whose characterization is so messed up she could be a red haired robot and you wouldn't notice a difference) is not interested is babysitting her.

Overall the plot lacks any kind of interesting pull a good spy novel may have, they main characters and their romance feels forced and underdeveloped, there is no way someone who has ever read a quality YA novel can relate to this girl, who should be an outstanding character for the writer to choose to replace Natasha with her and still use Romanov's alias on the cover.

So there you go, congratulations Marvel! You have destroyed Nat in yet another type of media. Did Stohl even bothered to read any of the comics? Unlikely; but well, I don't plan on reading anything she has written ever again.
