I feel as though Night of the Living Queers is a pretty average anthology. Some high notes, some low, and some just mid that I've probably already forgotten about. One thing I did notice however is that most stories ended on either a low or at least bittersweet, which is something I like when it comes to short horror stories.
My least favorite stories would have to be the first two, Welcome to the Hotel Paranoia and The Visitor. The Visitor felt entirely bland while Hotel Paranoia just felt... lacking. A Brief Intermission was sort of... eh as well. But I would say that after that for the most part it does get better.
My favorite would have to be Guested though.
Using 2nd POV can be tricky but I do feel like it paid off with Guested and while it keeps the reader in the dark about how the whole Guested thing works it makes sense considering that the main character, us, will also never figure it out either.
The last story of the anthology Knickknack, I think would have done much better with the word and page count pushed up and having it be turned into a Novella. It just felt rushed which isn't really what you want a short story to feel like.
