Where the Dead Sit Talking by Brandon Hobson

3.0

Sequoyah is in foster care while his mother is in prison. Sequoyah is a strange boy with scars on his face who longs for connection, but constantly walls people out. I thought it was strange that he constantly had thoughts of hurting people who he professed to like. Also, his conversations with the adults were so surface level and had little to do with his own real thoughts. It makes me wonder what my own children are not telling me. Unsettling. Sad. Unfamiliar. I think Sequoyah felt all of these things, like he belonged nowhere.
