(Teeny tiny spoiler)

I had a lot of thoughts about this book. My frustrations can be condensed down into, I wanted it to be about love and philosophy, and I wanted it to tell me something, and make me think. And instead (spoilers) it was mostly about AI. It was basically just a sci-fi book. I also found it pretentious. Maybe I’m just not clever enough. Overall, I did not enjoy it very much, apart from two chapters about 180 pages in where I thought it was finally going somewhere interesting.

When I got to those two chapters I was like oh this is actually good and it’s my fault I haven’t really got it so far because I’ve just been reading it too slowly; to be fair it did take me a long time, I’m emerging from a reading slump. And I probably would have enjoyed it more if I’d got through it quicker, so that is genuinely my bad. But then… yeah. The end annoyed me. And I didn’t really find it to be about love at all.

This one just wasn’t for me. Apologies
