Despite my love of vampire myth, I'm usually pretty difficult to please. While I'm willing and eager to find a unique take on the vampire, there are certain no-nos that will turn me off as a reader. Happily (for me!), P.C. Cast did everything right in this book. The characters are interesting, the setting works, and the storyline is catchy. What really did it for me, though, is the unique mixture of Native American traditions with Wiccan or perhaps Pagan elements; I'm not qualified to distinguish between Wiccan and Pagan.

When I finished this book, I couldn't get to book #2 fast enough. That's why it gets a five star. When I'm that eager to keep reading, the author has done everything right.
