This one had so much potential, but the main character, Annie, was so incredibly bland and little girl perfect - even though she’s in her late twenties. She’s still a virgin, has never done anything wrong in her life, and has never had a mean thought or word. Ever. Even when she’s a doormat for her sister’s jokes about her innocence, her “anger” comes out basically as “that hurts my feelings. Please stop.” There’s also lots of tradwife talk. All she wants in life is to get married, to be a wife, to live in her hometown and make everyone else happy. I don’t even remember any characters drinking alcohol in the book. There’s also the hateful old lady who judges people because they have tattoos, and refuses to let them buy what they need at the only grocery store in town. There’s the scolding for cussing, the teasing a friend for kissing her fiance in public. The whole book really gives close-minded, purity values vibes. I’m surprised “slut shaming” wasn’t included anywhere, but I still have a few pages left to read, we’ll see.
And Will could have been so interesting and exciting, but there are tooonnns of mentions of his interesting travel and experiences, with zero details. He’s very one dimensional.
Closed door romance. Boringly described the night only as “fun.”
