I enjoyed Blood Debts; however, I didn't like a character was introduced and given whole chapters only to not do anything with him.  It is all lead up to the next book.  And the ending was kinda open ended. I figured earlier that angle the plot was going, but it only did a quiet reveal of it then ended.  I was left wanton, without a sequel in hand.  Poo.  All that, but the book was entertaining, had interesting magic systems, political intrigue, racism, southern heritage, family dysfunction, action, and violence.  Great messages about respecting your ancestors and Gods.  Good book, but don't recommend reading unless you have the second book handy.  Oh, and can we off Valentina, please!
