Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers

5.0

I didn't want to read this book. Grave Mercy easily became one of my favorite books after reading it, and I was afraid that Dark Triumph wouldn't live up to my extremely high standards. Ismae and Duval, I mean, what can I say? Grave Mercy was amazing!

Thankfully, I can say that Dark Triumph doesn't disappoint. At all.

Starting where Grave Mercy left off, Dark Triumph follows Sybella's side of the story. She is a completely different narrator than Ismae, and her story radically different. Yet, it doesn't feel like you're reading an unrelated book. They're similar enough to make sure you know they belong to the same series, but different enough to be interesting.

Sybella has gained a new respect from me. Seeing her in this light made me realized how severely I misjudged her in Grave Mercy, and how little I knew her then.

This book has been added to my favorites, and I cannot wait to read Mortal Heart.
