Did not finish book. Stopped at 9%.

The first ten percent drowns the reader in backstory exposition and sets Mariana up as a less-than-competent counselor. Plus I dislike the voice, which feels simultaneously simplistic and affected. I have 417 books on my to-read shelf, and life is short.
