As Luck Would Have It by Sonya Lalli
medium-paced
3.5
I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the idea of this story. I loved the journey of Ash discovering her self worth and finally standing up for herself with her family.
I will be the first to admit that I do not get her family dynamics because I did not grow up like that so I really couldn't get my head around it. I was like f them! The brother was so annoying! I wanted to put him in a time out! She does everything for you, drops everything for you and you treat her like that? Hell no! And don't get me started on the dad!
As much as I loved seeing her discover her self worth and getting a backbone, I found the whole drama with Devin's ex rather silly. Yes, she's a famous pop star and yeah, I'd have issues too but it seemed to drag on way too long.
The narrator got on my last nerve when she read the part of the brother. It sounded like she was talking through clenched teeth making him sound like he was 13.
