Hear My Sorrow: The Diary of Angela Denoto, a Shirtwaist Worker, New York City 1909 by Deborah Hopkinson
5.0
The Dear America series is hands down (in my opinion) one of the best for readers with an unquenchable love and fascination for history. This one in particular is one of my favs because it takes place during the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire and I've always found this particular time period interesting. If you do decide to read this one, keep tissues handy. It's a heart-wrenching story of loss, suffering, and dilemma. I admire Angela's and Sarah's strength and persistence despite so many obstacles. All the characters were believable and the writing style was flawless. It was so easy to get lost in the story and feel each victory and sorrow.
All in all, a beautiful and moving fictional account of a dark time in America. Can't recommend this enough for any age. 5 stars! I need to buy my own copy.
