A really good read! - Historical setting, fantasy plot, and LGBT characters, so many boxes checked for me! I think the pacing was very good and the prose was excellent - you really felt immersed in the story, and she has great control over her world building. It's not an info dump of everything at once, but instead she gradually builds upon it as the story progresses. The only aspect that was a little rushed is the
romance. I love seeing representation in fantasy novels, I guess I wish it had just been a little more organic. That's probably not the author's fault though, if the novel needs to be under a certain page limit. I don't know, something about the chemistry between Robin and Edwin just felt a little off to me - maybe things just escalated too quickly. However, I'm willing to overlook that because they are both such great characters, and even if it was quicker than I would have liked, I'm convinced that in time they would have fallen for each other eventually!
The book itself is excellent, solid plot, and definitely worth the read.
