I am so glad that they rewrote this slightly to be more modern. The scene where she gets her period for the first time and has to wear the belt was so terrifying as a kid when I read this, definitely scarring me for life. I didn't remember the religious plot of this at all but I thought it was an interesting exploration of faith.
