Batman Vol. 2: The Joker War by James Tynion IV

3.0

I loved some elements but it definitely had its ups and downs throughout. I liked the last few issues that let the Batfamily shine with Dick taking back up the Nightwing mantle and Babs Oracle. I also liked the development of Punchline though I think she wasn't always written evenly, as for Harley, I like how focused she was but she leans into the interpretation that I am not a huge fan of. The more manic pixie part of her personality, when I prefer a little more grounded Harley. And her last stand just seemed dumb, though I liked how it illustrated Joker but from her point of view I didn't buy it as viable.

I loved seeing the villain lair where they all hang out and make bets on how things are going to turn out. and the set up for Clownkiller intrigues me so does Punchline's epilogue.

I guess in the end I like Joker less of a city wide villain, the whole hungry city part just doesn't convince me the point, I think he works best as agent of chaos. Like the the whole 'you need to fail, the city will never be whole' it gets a shrug, who cares. Though 'do you want it to be Metropolis with less aliens' did make me laugh.
