The Five by Lily White
5.0

This is a dual POV book. Rainey is the lone survivor of a brutal crime, and Justin is the psychologist tasked to find out what happened that fateful night. The story unfolds with snippets from the past and present, as Rainey tells Justin her journey since moving into the neighborhood.

With each flashback, I was left in shock that Rainey would surround herself with the people she did, and that she would allow herself to be treated in such a horrible way. The overwhelming need to slap some sense into her was a constant feeling through out the book. Just when you think things couldn't get any worse, they do.

This book is achingly frustrating, because no person should have to go through the things Rainey did. I am emotionally drained. This is definitely a dark read, and not for the faint of heart.

Then the ending was just... WOW.
