Twenty Four Hours In The Life of a Woman
by Stefan Zweig
thought this was incredible! the scene in the casino with the descriptions of the hands is an amazing piece of writing.
the use of a frame narrator was really interesting (and i suppose indicative of the period) and i wasn't expecting it at all. with the title and the blurb on the back of the book focusing on mrs c, the fact that she was not the initial narrator really disarmed me, but i kind of liked that effect. i really thought the initial narrator was female and finding out they weren't changed my perception of the opinions they were expressing at the beginning of the story.
