This book exceeded all of my expectations and set a standard I doubt another book will meet again. I signed on for high fantasy political intrigue and received a story about healing, found family, and the elevation of compassion and care above all else. Maia's tenderness warmed me to the core and inspired new hope in me for the human (or Thu, hehe) spirit.
