The Woods All Black by Lee Mandelo
5.0
dark mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes

Gruesome, writhing, and atmospheric, this book left me both reeling and sated.

I came to The Woods All Black expecting an historical Appalachian horror with a trans vengeance narrative, and good golly, did it deliver! I had not anticipated the monsterfucking, but it was a welcome surprise. Definitely check your content warnings on this one, folks, it gets graphic in few senses of the word. I've encountered scant few books that are both horror and romance, but I felt like Mandelo managed it deftly.

For being as short as it is, this book packs a heck of a punch, so prepare yourself as necessary.
