Bow Before the Elf Queen by J.M. Kearl
5.0
I finished this book in one day on 27th April 2022 and I am writing the review on 28th August 2022. So, this will be that kind of review of mine, in which I am trying to say something about a book from my faint recollections.
The delay in writing the review is not the book`s fault, on the contrary. I liked the book so much that I immediately wanted to read something else, so I could entertain myself even further with my hype.
Anyhow, there are some moments from this book that remained vivid to me even after months. For example, I liked how the female protagonist was feisty and was putting her foot down with her actions, too, not only with the word of the narrator.
I think it made a disservice to the book that it switched between her voice and the voice of the main love interest. Until the first switch (to his voice) we were seeing his mysterious side, the allure of the powerful unknown, but once we went into his mind, the thought process got a bit too mushy and saccharine, too quickly.
Spoiler
I mean, I understood that you wanted to depict the bond that was put between the two, but still, it was too soon into the plot.Overall, this was a book with A LOT of potential. I can`t wait to see with what the author will amaze us in the future.
