Namesake by Adrienne Young
4.0

If Fable is like finding out Santa Claus is real AND you're on the Nice List, then Namesake is like Santa gave you a Powerball ticket AND YOU'VE WON.

If Sirens were books Adrienne Young is clearly writing mythical book after mythical book. Namesake is everything and more that you could possibly want in a sequel. It has the same song to each sentence that captivates you and makes it so hard find a place to stop reading.

The characters have grown into their own by now. They each have chemistry with each other and more importantly, history that doesn't have to be explained. There is never an information dump that feels forced or out of place. Each character giving a little bit more of themselves to the reader over time. We see the flaws of our characters and not only that, but the flaws of our main character which makes her more realistic and human. She isn't capable of doing everything like so many other authors of books portray, she needs help and she's too stubborn to ask. Which by the way is the entire millennial toxic trait.

I really like that the book is not driven by romance. Yes it is there, but it's not "love at first sight" or any of that garbage that doesn't seem real. This is a true relationship that is built chapter by chapter and is nurtured and grown from a seed. This relationship has its moments when you aren't sure if it will make the journey. And more than anything, this relationship has a foundation where many written romances have none.

If you need any more reason to read this book, I will leave you with this: don't be stupid, stupid.
