This book was a struggle to read for me, I found myself nearly DNF'ing multiple times. I finished because I was reading this for a friend.
I was curious at the beginning, a contemporary/fantasy world of vampire kingdoms and hierarchies. The writing style is not for me. I didn't like a lot of the choices that were made for characters or events, especially how characters would treat our main character and how that didn't really change. I wish more of the vampire lore and society was explained, a lot of it felt like it was just stated to be stated and it would have felt better if we got more in depth details. I didn't like how the main character was treated like a literal child and was being essentially grounded or things taken away like one.
The romance was meh in my opinion. A lot of the time it felt like the love interest wasn't actually interested in the main character. Overall, this was not really for me - disliked the characters and writing and I won't continue because the next book is about a character I especially disliked.
